What Does ‘Employee Ownership’ Mean at Kapco Global?

Organizational Culture

December of last year, Kapco Global was honored among large, mid-size and small businesses by the OC Register as a Top Workplace in Orange County. This award is aimed at recognizing organizations with a proven commitment to a positive company culture, and the results are determined solely by employee-initiated survey responses. While this has always been something we strive for at Kapco Global, it was truly an honor to have these efforts reflected in this employee survey.

At Kapco Global, we believe that our company culture is the reason for our ongoing success. We have seen firsthand the benefits of an encouraging work environment, and what that environment means for our employees, our corporate growth and our customers. Proof of this culture is reflected in our high employee morale records, impressive employee longevity, the satisfaction and retention of our customers and the continued profitability of our company. But our company culture did not happen overnight. Two ways we have worked to create this environment include an emphasis on employee engagement and employee ownership.

Employee Engagement Is the Secret

Employee engagement has been shown to increase profitability, improve sales, greatly reduce errors and retain great employees for the long haul. At Kapco Global, we strive to promote high levels of engagement among our employees. We accomplish this through continuous improvement of our internal processes, including internal communication methods. As a result, we have not only worked to foster a better environment, but we’ve seen improvements to our customer satisfaction levels as well. We’ve used this same ideology to promote engagement through our unique employee benefits.

We Promote Employee Ownership

Kapco Global is an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company (and has won several national ESOP Company of the Year awards). Basically, this means our employees have an ownership interest in us; our employees are our stockholders. Through this, our employees are able to benefit directly from the profitability of our organization, giving meaning to their career beyond the day-to-day. They are forging the growth and profitability of, not just a company, but of something they own.

Our Employees Make Us Great

Kapco Global’s company culture is the result of our employees. As Vice President of Human Resources Rita Mould said of the Top Workplaces in Orange County award, “As an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, we realize that we wouldn’t be the company we are without our employee-owners. This award is a testament to the positive and entrepreneurial work environment our dedicated team members have created at Kapco Global.” And we don’t just keep the awards to ourselves. In 2016, we had three owners receive our Employee of the Year award. These dedicated employees include:

From the Americas:

    • Bud Miller, Director of Business Process Management

    Employee owner since 2010

From Asia:

    • Cherlyn Pwa, Supervisor of Customer Relationships

    Employee owner since 2000

From EMEA:

    • Damien Biache, IT System Administrator

    Employee owner since 2009

We are honored that our employees have invested so much into the wellbeing and growth of our organization, and we will continue to aim toward making Kapco Global a rewarding place to work.
