Employee ownership is part of Proponent’s DNA and has always been a huge part of what we do and how we do it, but several things over the past month have put it at the front of our minds, and we realized that it’s been a while since we wrote about what employee ownership means to us as a company. So, we’re writing about it again!
First, October was Employee Ownership Month (but you knew that, right?), a tradition started by the ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) Association in 1990, and carried on today by the thousands of companies – and millions of employees – participating in ESOP programs in the U.S. alone.
Second, we are extra proud of our Proponent team for receiving two recent awards centering on our employees. In October, we were honored at the ESOP Association’s California and Western States (CAWS) conference with a Communications Excellence Award for our internal corporate newsletter, Engage. And in late November, we were recognized as a winner of the Litmos Lenny award, acknowledging organizations that have built a corporate training program from the ground up and that have advanced their training program in a short period of time with great success.
We want to offer huge kudos to our communications and trainings team for doing award-winning work.
At Proponent, we know that our success as a company is the direct result of the amazing people who have built our company culture and continue to help expand our services and capabilities. As an ESOP company, Proponent employees have an ownership interest in the organization. In fact, we call our team members “employee-owners,” because they are.
We have always said that aerospace is a people business, and at Proponent, we think that the best way to serve our clients and customers is by creating an organization where our employee-owners are empowered, motivated and invested – quite literally – in the success of every single interaction.
All 600+ of Proponent’s employee-owners are committed to providing the best service and striving for the best results for our clients and customers – not only because of each person’s individual stake in the company, but because we all truly believe in our company, in our culture and in our organizational goal to be the best aerospace parts distribution company. So, the next time you see a big smile on a Proponent employee-owner’s face, you’ll know that it’s because we really, really love what we do, and we feel privileged that we get to work with one another and with all of our amazing suppliers and customers day after day.
